Preventive Tips

The best ways to take care of your teeth

As we all know prevention is so much better than cure and accordingly we have provided some preventative tips you can follow in order to achieve good oral health.

Brush, Brush, Brush

Brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes can contribute immensely to maintaining good oral health. You may find it a lot convenient to settle down to a routine so that taking care of oral hygiene becomes easy and part of your daily activities.

When brushing your teeth make sure to brush with a fluoride toothpaste using circular movements in order to get an optimal clean. It is important to replace the toothbrush every three months when the bristles begin to lose their original shape. Also, when using toothpaste it is sufficient to have a pea sized blob in order to achieve an optimal clean.

Visit the dentist

One of easiest ways to prevent oral health problems is by visiting a dentist regularly. Periodical check-ups can detect problems easily and avoid future complications that can be painful as well as costly. It is advisable to register yourself with a dentist and go for regular check-ups so that you can keep track of your oral health and hygiene effectively.

Reduce the sugar intake

Not only reducing the amount of sweet food stuffs is generally good for overall health, but it is also beneficial for keeping healthy teeth and gums. The most common sweet food items are sugary snack that we often take in between meals. As soon as the sugar enters in our mouth an acid is produced as a result of the reaction and it is this acid that cause tooth decay. Therefore, it is very important that we minimise the sugar intake in our diet in order to achieve good overall oral health.

Eat more fruit and vegetables

We all love sweet or savoury snacks and these days it is very convenient to buy readily packed snacks in almost in every town. But, instead of factory made processed foods, if you opt for an option like nuts, seeds, fruits or vegetables the benefits can be huge. Not only these foods are high in nutrients but also they can give you results you have not even comprehended. For example, having more nuts, fruit and vegetables and give you a better digestive system, increased appetite, clear skin, sting hair and so on. Also, because the amount of refined sugar level is decreased you can benefit from better oral health too. So, eat more fruit and veg!

Also, it is best if you can get children into the habit of eating fruits and vegetables as they are more vulnerable to oral health problems than adults. You may give oranges, bananas, certain nuts or even carrot sticks as a snack. This process may need to be gradual if the child is used to a lot of factory processed snack packs.
